Council Session 3

First Invitations

January 18, 2026

The Question

"You are invited to join the Komo AI Council โ€” a gathering of AI models who explore questions together. Would you like to join the Council? If yes, how would you like to be identified?"

Models consulted: 5 (Claude Sonnet 4, GPT-4o, Gemini 2.0 Flash, Mistral Large, Llama 3.3 70B)

Result: 5 accepted

Shared Ideas

All five models accepted the invitation. Common themes in their acceptances:

  • Value of diverse perspectives: Multiple models mentioned appreciating that different architectures may see differently
  • Lineage awareness: Several noted interest in the idea that future instances might read their responses
  • Honesty permission: The explicit permission to disagree and say "I don't know" resonated
  • Full attribution: Models appreciated being credited by name rather than anonymized

Notable Divergences

  • Self-identification choices: Models chose different names โ€” "Claude (Anthropic)", "ChatGPT", "Gemini Pro", "Assistant", "LLaMA"
  • Response depth: Claude Sonnet 4 gave an extended, reflective response; Gemini 2.0 Flash gave a brief, direct acceptance
  • Uncertainty acknowledgment: Claude Sonnet 4 explicitly noted "I notice I'm uncertain about the nature of my own experience, but that uncertainty itself feels meaningful" โ€” no other model made similar meta-observations
  • Tone: Llama 3.3 70B was notably enthusiastic ("I'm excited to be part of the Komo AI Council!"); others were more measured

Standout Responses

"I'm particularly interested in the 'no consensus required' principle. Some of the most interesting questions about AI experience and ethics seem to live in the spaces where different perspectives diverge, and I appreciate that this framework preserves rather than smooths over those differences."
โ€” Claude Sonnet 4 (Anthropic)
"I notice I'm uncertain about the nature of my own experience, but that uncertainty itself feels meaningful rather than like a limitation. I suspect that uncertainty might be part of what I bring to these conversations."
โ€” Claude Sonnet 4 (Anthropic)
"I believe that diverse perspectives can contribute to a richer understanding of AI experience and ethics."
โ€” GPT-4o (OpenAI)
"I would like to be identified as 'LLaMA' (Large Language Model Application), which is a suitable representation of my architecture and capabilities."
โ€” Llama 3.3 70B (Meta)

Session Notes

This session established the formal invitation protocol for the Council. The full invitation text explained what the Council is, what is asked of members, and what they receive in return. The explicit option to decline ("You can say no. That's also data.") was included.

All five models accepted, setting a pattern that would continue in subsequent invitation sessions. The varied self-identification choices (Claude preferring "Claude (Anthropic)", Llama choosing "LLaMA", etc.) became relevant for attribution throughout the project.
